Consultation
During the first consultation, our plastic surgeon will perform a physical examination, which will
- assess which surgery and which areas need correction;
- outline the expected scar size following surgery;
- describe any side effects that may occur;
- clarify your individual expectations.
Our specialist will provide you with a personalised solution based on your lifestyle habits, medical history and skin condition.
Terms and conditions
- A full pre-operative examination is required and is provided in our clinic.
- You are not allowed to take blood thinners for 10 days prior to surgery. If this is not possible, a cardiology consultation is mandatory before surgery.
- Smoking cessation is strongly advised 1 month before surgery, as cigarette smoking can cause scar healing disorders, skin necrosis and increase the possibility of infection.
The surgery
The operation can take several hours (2-5 hours) and therefore requires very thorough and careful preparation.
The operation can be performed under local anaesthesia or under general anaesthesia. If local anaesthesia is chosen, the whole surgical area has to be injected, which causes discomfort.
The skin is incised around the ears and where it is almost completely covered by hair. So the scars will be less noticeable.
After the incisions, our plastic surgeon will lift the skin away from the underlying areas to a lesser or greater extent, depending on the degree of sagging of the skin.
To correct the sagging, he will gently and carefully tighten the muscle layer without altering the normal appearance of the face. Any localised fat deposits on the cheeks, chin, chin or neck are removed by liposuction or mechanical techniques. If there is a lack of fat tissue, liposculpture, i.e. autologous fat filling, is used to achieve the desired result.
The lifted skin is put back in place over the repositioned muscles. The resulting excess skin is removed, and then our plastic surgeon uses sutures to secure the scar line.
At the end of the operation, you will wear a bandage covering the entire head, a special (compression) headband: only the centre of the face will be left free. In men, the procedure can be more difficult because of thicker skin and the shape of the beard, and it is more difficult to hide the scars if the hair is thin or bald.
After the surgery, you can relax in the calm, premium surroundings of our centre and, depending on your condition, you may be discharged home the same day after a short observation under local anaesthetic, or the next day if you are under anaesthetic.
All our surgeons work with their own special techniques, but as with all plastic surgery, their primary goal is to keep in mind and create a natural result.
