Slimming down certain parts of your body with regular exercise and a healthy diet won’t make those damn pounds disappear. In these cases, liposuction may be the answer.
The procedure is basically designed to remove fat deposits that have formed despite normal body weight. It can also be used to remove fat that remains after significant weight loss and cannot be effectively removed by regular exercise. It is not a substitute for a diet, but it can achieve lasting results by removing fat cells. The treated area will no longer develop fat deposits.
The following areas of the body are usually difficult to get rid of localised excess fat:
Consultation
Before the intervention, you will have a preliminary consultation in which:
Terms and conditions
Surgery under anaesthesia is preceded by a consultation with a specialist anaesthesiologist.
To ensure a speedy recovery, we recommend that you take note of and adhere to the following before the procedure:
The operation
Our internationally renowned plastic surgeons work in our operating theatres in a safe environment with state-of-the-art equipment. It is extremely rare, but we can provide immediate intensive care should a complication arise.
Liposuction can be performed under local anaesthesia (as an outpatient procedure) or under surgical anaesthesia. The former is recommended for minor procedures, the latter for liposuction of areas larger than two parts of the body at the same time.
Only the equivalent of 3 litres of fat can be removed during such a procedure. As the procedure is not a substitute for weight loss (at most, it is a supplement), no weight change is expected, but rather a slimmer, shapelier figure.
The healing time for small surgical scars is different for each patient. Compression garments should be worn for about 6 weeks after surgery. Stitches are usually removed after 1 week. Please note the following to ensure a speedy recovery:
During this time it is quite natural to experience the following:
At the consultation and during the preliminary tests, we aim to screen out all possible risk factors, but very rarely, even so, the following complications may occur:
Result
The results of liposuction can be seen on the same day, but the initial condition expected by the patient can be said to be permanent after a few months.
The operation involves the removal of excess fat, so the change is not measured in kilograms but rather in centimetres. Thanks to the contouring procedure, people who come to us are satisfied that their bodies are proportionate and shapely again.
