Medical grade hyaluronic acid treatment

Medical grade hyaluronic acid treatment

The most widely used substance in medical aesthetics is hyaluronic acid, which is identical to the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid in the body. Due to its structure, it has a high water-binding capacity and can be replaced, hydrating the skin from the inside, improving its texture and rejuvenating it.

There are several possible techniques for hyaluronic acid injection, including depth of injection, needle/ cannula orientation and continuity of injection. The depth of the injection also depends on whether the aim is to increase volume or to improve contour, which is always based on a treatment plan drawn up in consultation with the specialist.

The procedure itself is quick and involves minimal pain, and a local anaesthetic is applied after disinfecting the affected area.

What is the hyaluronic acid procedure?

After the individual treatment plan has been set up, your doctor will provide you with detailed information on the technique used and the properties of the substances administered.

The procedure itself is quick and involves minimal pain: after disinfecting the affected area, a local anaesthetic is applied. The hyaluronic acid is injected into the area to be treated using a thin needle or cannula. There are several possible techniques for the injection of hyaluronic acid, the depth of the injection, the orientation of the needle/cannula and the continuity of the injection. The depth of the injection also depends on whether the aim is to increase volume or to improve contour.

Treatments usually last 20-25 minutes. During the procedure, the injected filler can be shaped by massaging.

What are the most common applications?
  • Lips
  • Lip-“sadness” crease (Marionette)
  • Nose-lip, “laughing” wrinkle (nasolabial)
  • Under-eye circles
  • Face shaping
  • Chin and chin line treatment
What are the reasons why treatment cannot be carried out?

– Hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid
– Active skin disease or skin lesion on the face
– Active herpes
– Previous silicone mouth fillings
– Coagulation disorders
– Autoimmune disease
– Pregnancy, breastfeeding

What should I do before treatment?

Since the fillers contain naturally occurring hyaluronic acid, no prior medical examination is required before treatment. Aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should be avoided for a few days before treatment. This will reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site. If herpes develops with high frequency, it is recommended to take Telviran 400 mg 5 days before treatment as a prophylaxis.

What should I do after treatment?

After filling around the mouth, avoid excessive mouth movement (talking, laughing).

Avoid physical exertion, sports, heat (e.g. sauna, hot water baths) and alcoholic beverages for 24 hours after any hyaluronic acid treatment to minimise temporary redness and swelling.

Avoid strong sunlight, UV rays, cold, frost, saunas, tanning beds, and foods, drinks and medicines that speed up the metabolism and thus the breakdown of the filler.

Possible side effects

– Temporary redness, haemorrhaging, swelling
– Sensitivity to pressure at the injection site, colour change
– “lump” protruding from the contour at the injection site
– Due to individual connective tissue characteristics, the filler is absorbed more quickly than usual
– In rare cases, herpes may develop after lip filling
