Timely treatment is important, as progression of the disease can lead to permanent symptoms, urinary retention, permanent urethral catheterisation, damage to the bladder wall, urinary tract infections, bladder stone formation, bladder bleeding and artificial kidney treatment.

The duration of prostate surgery depends largely on the type of procedure – it generally takes about 1 hour.
On medical advice, physical rest for a few weeks, followed by gradual exercise and a balanced lifestyle are recommended for a speedy recovery.
